August 2011 - Collect-a-Can interact with the youth in Gauteng

Collect-a-Can took the opportunity to teach learners about the importance of recycling and how they can get involved with Collect-a-Can whilst attending a Gauteng district debate event held at the Bosco Youth Centre in Walkerville recently. The event saw 30 schools from 15 districts across Gauteng participating in a debate around the theme of Road Safety. Collect-a-Can was invited to attend the event by the Gauteng Department of Education

In the spirit of debate, learners questioned Collect-a-Can representative, Hazel Mohlala, on topics related to recycling, environmental awareness, Collect-a-Can’s school’s competitions, the difference between aluminium and steel cans, and what types of cans can be recycled. Promotional items were handed out to participating learners.
